A5 invitations can be printed in portrait or landscape orientation. Portrait provides plenty of vertical space for traditional invitation layouts, photographs above or below the wording, and designs containing several sections of information.
Landscape can work particularly well with wide photographs, illustrated scenes, timelines or layouts where event details are arranged across the card. Your artwork should be supplied in the same orientation selected when ordering.
Single-sided printing is suitable when your complete design and event information fit comfortably on the front. Double-sided printing lets you keep the main invitation visually simple while using the reverse for directions, schedules, RSVP details, accommodation information or other useful notes for guests.

A5 invitations have a finished size of 148 x 210mm. When preparing your artwork, the file should include the required bleed beyond the finished edge while keeping important wording and design elements safely inside the trim line.
We require 2mm bleed on every edge, giving an overall artwork size of 152 x 214mm. Background colours, photographs and decorative elements intended to continue to the edge of the finished invitation should extend fully into this bleed area.
We also recommend keeping names, dates, venue details and other essential content at least 3mm inside the finished edge. This safe area helps prevent important information appearing too close to the trim after finishing.
Artwork should be supplied at the correct dimensions, with photographs, illustrations and other raster images ideally set at 300dpi at their final printed size. This is particularly important on A5 invitations where larger photographs and detailed graphics may form a prominent part of the design.
Where possible, prepare artwork using CMYK colour rather than RGB. Screens display colour in RGB, while commercial printing typically reproduces colour using CMYK. Because the two colour systems work differently, some colours may appear slightly different in print compared with how they look on screen.
The larger A5 format gives you more freedom when arranging event information, but clear spacing is still important. Avoid placing decorative borders very close to the trim edge and make sure important wording does not become lost among photographs, patterns or background graphics.
