US sized business cards measure 89 x 51mm, equivalent to approximately 3.5 x 2 inches. Their proportions are slightly wider and shallower than the standard UK business card size of 85 x 55mm.
This format is particularly useful when your artwork has already been created using a US business card template or an online design service that works to 3.5 x 2 inch dimensions. Rather than resizing or cropping the design to fit a UK card, you can have it printed at the proportions it was originally created for.
Cards are printed on 350gsm white card and can be supplied single or double sided, in either portrait or landscape orientation.
The standard US business card format is 3.5 x 2 inches, which is approximately 89 x 51mm.
Although the difference from a UK 85 x 55mm business card may appear small, the proportions are noticeably different. A US card is slightly wider and less tall, so artwork designed specifically for one format may not fit the other without adjustment.
This is especially important when the artwork contains borders, text close to the edge or carefully aligned design elements.
Choose this format when your existing artwork has been designed to 3.5 x 2 inches or 89 x 51mm and you want to preserve the original layout.
Many online design tools, downloadable templates and artwork supplied by international designers use US business card dimensions by default. If that artwork is resized to a UK 85 x 55mm card, elements may need to be stretched, cropped or repositioned.
Printing it at the intended US size avoids those compromises and helps retain the spacing and proportions of the original design.
UK business cards measure 85 x 55mm, while US sized cards measure approximately 89 x 51mm.
The UK format is slightly shorter in width but taller in height. Neither size is inherently better; the most suitable choice depends largely on the dimensions of your artwork and the format you prefer.
If your artwork has been designed specifically for 85 x 55mm, choose our standard Business Cards. If it has been created at 3.5 x 2 inches, this US sized option is usually the better fit.
Landscape is the traditional orientation for US business cards and makes good use of their wider proportions for company names, logos and contact information.
Portrait designs offer a narrower vertical layout and can work particularly well for simple branding, centred typography or designs intended to look less conventional.
Single-sided printing is suitable when all essential contact information can be presented clearly on one face of the card.
Double-sided printing provides extra room for a logo, services, social details, QR code, slogan or other supporting information while allowing the main contact side to remain clear and uncluttered.
US sized business cards are printed on 350gsm white card, providing a sturdy feel suitable for everyday professional use.
The clean white surface works well with both simple text-based artwork and more colourful designs, giving you a neutral base for your existing branding.
Select your printed sides, orientation and required quantity before uploading your own print-ready artwork.

US sized business cards have a finished size of 89 x 51mm, approximately 3.5 x 2 inches. If your artwork was created using a US business card template, these are the proportions it should be designed to match.
When preparing your file for print, artwork should include 2mm bleed on every edge. This gives an overall artwork size of 93 x 55mm.
Any background colours, photographs or graphics intended to continue to the edge of the finished card should extend fully into the bleed area.
Important text, logos and contact details should remain at least 3mm inside the finished edge. This recommended safe area helps prevent essential content from appearing too close to the trim.
Artwork should be created at the correct dimensions, with images and graphics ideally supplied at 300dpi at their final printed size.
Where possible, prepare artwork using CMYK colour rather than RGB. Screens display colour in RGB, while commercial printing typically reproduces colour using CMYK. Because the two colour systems work differently, some colours may appear slightly different in print compared with how they look on screen.
As with any business card, avoid overcrowding the design. Names, telephone numbers, email addresses and other important information should remain comfortably readable at the finished size.
If you are unsure whether your file has been created to UK or US business card dimensions, check the document size before ordering. Use the US business card artwork diagram as a guide to the finished size, bleed and safe area.
Choosing the format that matches your artwork can help avoid unnecessary resizing, cropping or changes to the original layout.
