Company number: 05478746

Registered office: Vaughan Chambers, Vaughan Road, Harpenden, Hertfordshire, England, AL5 4EE

In these Terms & Conditions, references to "Short Run Print", "we", "us" or "our" mean Quadrant Print and Design Limited trading as Short Run Print.

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before placing an order.

By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About Us

Short Run Print is a trading name of Quadrant Print and Design Limited.

We are a UK-based printing business providing short-run printed products using artwork supplied by our customers.

Our products are produced specifically for each individual order. We do not supply standard off-the-shelf printed products.

Our contact details can be found on our Contact Us page.

2. Placing an Order

When placing an order through our website, you will first select the required product, quantity, paper or material type and any other available print options.

You will then be asked to upload the artwork that you would like us to print.

Once your artwork has been uploaded, a low-resolution visual proof will be displayed. This gives you an opportunity to check that the correct artwork has been uploaded and that the content and positioning appear as expected.

The proof may also be displayed again in your basket or during checkout, giving you a further opportunity to check your artwork before placing your order.

It is your responsibility to check that the product options have been selected correctly and that the correct artwork has been uploaded before completing your order.

By completing your order, you confirm that the product specification and artwork supplied are those you want us to use to produce your printed goods.

Once an order has been placed, you will receive an order confirmation. This confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean that production has started.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where there has been an obvious pricing or website error, where suitable artwork has not been supplied, or where we are unable to produce the order for another reasonable technical or operational reason.

If we cancel an order that has already been paid for, we will refund any amount due.

3. Customer-Supplied Artwork

All printing is produced from artwork supplied by the customer unless we have specifically agreed otherwise.

After uploading your artwork, a low-resolution visual proof will be displayed. This proof is intended to help you check the content and positioning of your artwork before proceeding with your order.

You should check the proof and your original artwork carefully before continuing.

In particular, you should check for:

  • spelling and grammatical errors;
  • incorrect telephone numbers or contact details;
  • incorrect dates, prices or other information;
  • incorrect artwork or pages;
  • image quality and resolution;
  • incorrect dimensions or orientation;
  • missing fonts or images;
  • unwanted borders, crop marks or other elements;
  • sufficient bleed and safe margins; and
  • the correct pages, sides or panels.

If you identify a problem, you should amend your artwork and upload the corrected file before proceeding with your order.

The visual proof may also be shown again in your basket or during checkout.

By uploading your artwork, reviewing the visual proof and subsequently completing your order, you confirm that the artwork supplied is the artwork you want us to use for printing.

The visual proof is a low-resolution representation intended to show content and positioning only. It should not be relied upon as an exact representation of colour, print quality, image sharpness, trimming, folding or other production characteristics.

We do not normally proofread, redesign or check the factual accuracy of customer artwork.

Where we identify an obvious technical problem, we may contact you before printing. However, you should not rely on us to identify errors in your artwork.

4. Artwork Size, Bleed and Safe Areas

Artwork should be supplied to the specifications shown on the relevant product page or artwork guide.

Where bleed is required, artwork should extend beyond the finished trim size by the specified amount.

Important text, logos and other critical information should be kept within the recommended safe area.

Minor movement can occur during printing, trimming, folding and finishing. Customers should therefore avoid positioning important elements too close to trim or fold lines.

We cannot normally accept responsibility for problems caused by artwork that does not follow the artwork specifications provided on our website.

5. Colour Reproduction

Colours displayed on monitors, phones and tablets may differ from printed colours.

Differences can also occur between different printing processes, machines, paper types, materials and production runs.

We take reasonable care to achieve consistent and accurate printing, but an exact colour match cannot normally be guaranteed unless this has been specifically agreed with us before ordering.

A difference between the colour displayed on a screen or low-resolution proof and the finished printed product does not by itself mean that the product is faulty.

6. Trimming, Folding and Finishing Tolerances

Commercial printing and finishing processes are subject to small production tolerances.

Minor variations may therefore occur in trimming, positioning, folding, alignment and finished size.

Customers should take normal manufacturing tolerances into account when preparing artwork, particularly where artwork contains borders, frames or elements positioned very close to an edge or fold.

7. Quantities

We aim to supply the quantity ordered.

Very small variations in quantity can occasionally occur during commercial print production because sheets may be removed during printing, trimming, finishing or quality control.

Where a material variation occurs, please contact us so that we can investigate.

8. Personalised and Custom-Made Products

Every printed product supplied by Short Run Print is produced specifically for the individual customer using the artwork supplied for that order.

Our printed products are therefore personalised or made to the customer's specification and cannot normally be resold to another customer.

For this reason, the usual right to cancel an online order simply because you have changed your mind may not apply to personalised or custom-made printed goods.

This does not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet the requirements of applicable consumer law.

9. Cancelling or Changing an Order

If you need to cancel or amend an order, please contact us as soon as possible.

Where production has not started, we may be able to cancel or amend the order.

Once artwork has entered production, printing has started, materials have been specially prepared or other production costs have been incurred, cancellation or changes may no longer be possible.

If we agree to make a change after production has started, additional charges may apply where extra work, printing or materials are required.

We will advise you of any additional charge before carrying out the change where reasonably possible.

Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights you may have.

10. Prices and Payment

Prices displayed on our website apply to the product specification shown at the time the order is placed.

Any applicable VAT and delivery charges will be displayed during checkout.

Full payment is normally required before an order enters production.

We reserve the right to correct obvious pricing errors. If an incorrect price affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you before proceeding.

11. Production and Dispatch Times

Any production or dispatch times shown on our website are estimates unless we expressly state otherwise.

Production times normally begin once we have received:

  • full payment;
  • suitable artwork; and
  • any other information required to produce the order.

If there is a problem with your artwork or order specification, production may be delayed until the issue has been resolved.

A stated dispatch date is the date we expect the order to leave us and is not necessarily the date on which it will be delivered.

12. Delivery

Orders are sent using the delivery service selected or shown during checkout.

Estimated delivery dates are provided in good faith but cannot be guaranteed unless the selected delivery service specifically provides a guaranteed delivery service.

Once an order has been handed to the carrier, delivery can be affected by circumstances outside our direct control.

Please ensure that the delivery address entered when ordering is complete and accurate.

We cannot normally accept responsibility for delays or additional costs caused by an incorrect or incomplete delivery address supplied by the customer.

13. Delivery Delays

If your order has not arrived when expected, please contact us and we will investigate with the carrier where appropriate.

We recommend allowing sufficient time when ordering printed products required for an event, promotion, exhibition, deadline or other important date.

Unless specifically agreed with us in writing before ordering, we cannot accept responsibility for indirect losses arising solely because a delivery arrives later than expected.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits any rights that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

14. Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Orders

Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

If you believe your order is damaged, defective, incorrectly printed or does not match the specification ordered, please contact us promptly with your order number, a description of the problem and clear photographs showing the issue where appropriate.

We may ask you to retain the goods while we investigate the problem.

If we confirm that the goods are faulty or that we have made an error, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your legal rights.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include reprinting the affected goods, replacing them or providing an appropriate refund.

15. Errors in Customer Artwork

We cannot normally provide a refund or free reprint where the finished product accurately reproduces the artwork supplied by the customer, but the artwork itself contains an error.

Examples include:

  • spelling mistakes;
  • incorrect telephone numbers or contact details;
  • incorrect dates or prices;
  • low-resolution images;
  • incorrect colours contained within the supplied artwork;
  • incorrect artwork or pages being uploaded;
  • text or logos positioned outside recommended safe areas;
  • insufficient bleed;
  • incorrectly supplied pages or sides; and
  • incorrect artwork dimensions or orientation.

Customers are given an opportunity to review a low-resolution visual proof after uploading their artwork and may also see the proof again during checkout.

It is the customer's responsibility to check the artwork and proof before completing the order.

Where possible, we may offer a discounted reprint where an error originates in customer-supplied artwork, but this will be at our discretion.

16. Copyright and Permission to Print

By supplying artwork, photographs, logos, text or other material to us, you confirm that you own the necessary rights or have permission to reproduce that material.

You must not ask us to reproduce material where doing so would infringe another person's copyright, trade mark or other intellectual property rights.

You remain responsible for the content of the artwork you supply.

By uploading artwork, you give us permission to use that artwork solely as reasonably necessary to process, manufacture and fulfil your order.

Ownership of your artwork remains with you or its respective rights holder.

17. Unlawful or Inappropriate Material

We reserve the right to refuse to print material that we reasonably believe:

  • is unlawful;
  • infringes intellectual property rights;
  • contains material that it would be unlawful for us to reproduce or distribute; or
  • could expose us to legal action.

Where appropriate, we will contact you if we are unable to proceed with an order for one of these reasons.

18. Uploaded Artwork and File Storage

Artwork uploaded to our website is used for the purpose of processing and producing your order.

We do not guarantee that customer artwork will be stored indefinitely.

Customers should therefore retain their own copies of all artwork and files supplied to us.

Further information about how we handle personal information can be found in our Privacy Policy.

19. Product Images and Descriptions

We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, illustrations, diagrams and photographs on our website are accurate and helpful.

Images used on the website may be illustrative, and differences in screens, photography and manufacturing processes may mean that the finished product is not identical in appearance to an on-screen image.

Measurements and specifications shown on individual product pages should be used when preparing artwork.

20. Paper and Material Availability

We may occasionally need to substitute a paper or material because of supplier availability or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where this is necessary, we will normally use a comparable material of similar type, specification and quality.

If a proposed substitution would materially change the product ordered, we will contact you where reasonably practicable before proceeding.

21. Our Responsibility

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our failure to comply with these Terms & Conditions or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was formed.

If you are purchasing as a consumer, nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.

22. Business Customers

If you are ordering wholly or mainly for purposes relating to your trade, business, craft or profession, you are purchasing as a business customer rather than as a consumer.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be responsible to business customers for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of revenue or loss of business opportunity arising from an order.

23. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We will not be responsible for delays or failure to perform our obligations where this is caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

These may include disruption to postal or courier services, severe weather, power or communications failures, industrial action, supplier failures, equipment breakdowns, fire, flood or other exceptional events.

Where such an event occurs, we will take reasonable steps to minimise its effect and resume normal service as soon as reasonably practicable.

24. Complaints

We want customers to be satisfied with their orders.

If you have a complaint, please contact us using the details shown on our Contact Us page and provide your order number together with details of the issue.

We will investigate the matter and respond as soon as reasonably possible.

25. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The Terms & Conditions applying to an order will normally be those published on our website when the order was placed.

26. Severability

If any part of these Terms & Conditions is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

27. Governing Law

If you are a consumer, these Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable to your part of the United Kingdom and you retain any rights you have to bring proceedings in the courts applicable to where you live.

For business customers, these Terms & Conditions and any dispute or claim arising from them will be governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

28. Contact Us

If you have any questions about these Terms & Conditions or an order you have placed, please contact us using the details provided on our Contact Us page.
